What is the Advisory Council?
The Advisory Council is a panel of concerned and contributing members of the Women’s Business Center that offers support towards the mission of economic empowerment of local emerging business in the following ways:
- Advising on the direction and pace of program development.
- Assisting with the design and implementation of fundraising.
- Promoting the activities of the WBC through community presence and positive communication.
- Lending of time, hands, brainpower, expertise, loyalty and commitment to the WBC.
The council is a working group with members signing a one-year commitment
(October - September). Each member agrees to:
- Attend monthly meetings
- Chair, co-chair or serve on at least one committee;
- Support all WBC events; and
- Make a financial commitment to join the WBC Alliance.
The Advisory Council supports the mission of the Women’s Business Center in a variety of ways including: supplementing the work of the Board of Directors; assisting in fund raising by helping us identify funding sources – sponsors, scholarship money, grants, etc.; serving as local links to the seven counties in our service area; being and finding volunteers; and writing articles for our monthly e-newsletter; managing the WBC Speakers Bureau. The members are our eyes and ears in the community and help us identify potential needs that we can address.
