to nineteen new women’s business centers
around the country for the 2006-2007 fiscal
year. The Women’s Business Center, Inc.
located in Mobile was awarded one of these
contracts valued at $195,000 for the first
year and $150,000 a year for the following
four years.
Under this new contract, the Women’s
Business Center which has been serving women
in Mobile and Baldwin Counties since 1993,
will expand its services to five rural counties

feature of this new project is the use of a “Bizmobile” vehicle
specifically designed to take small business
services on the road and out into the community.
Community partnerships will be established
in each county. A business counselor will drive
the Bizmobile out on a regular schedule to
conduct training and business counseling at
these partner locations. Follow up and project
management will take place at the corporate

Sylvia Browder, a
former business owner and experienced counselor

director. She will work under the direction
of Kathryn Cariglino, founder and executive
director of the Women’s Business Center,

the distinction of being the first and the
