The Bizmobile has arrived
MOBILE, AL – February 16, 2007 -- The
much anticipated arrival of the Women’s
Business Center, Inc.’s (WBC) Bizmobile
has occurred. The vehicle was unveiled to
the public on February 16, 2007 at a breakfast
held at the WBC offices on Azalea Road in
Mobile.
“We are very excited to have received a new round of funding from the U.S.
Small Business Administration,” said Women’s Business Center, Inc.
founder and executive director Kathryn Cariglino, “which has allowed us
to acquire the Bizmobile vehicle and add staff so that we can now serve the rural
communities in seven counties of south Alabama.”
At the unveiling in Mobile, John Williams, Mobile’s newly elected city
councilman, presented the WBC with a proclamation from the City of Mobile. Alabama
State Senator Bradley Byrne also attended the event and presented the WBC with
a proclamation from the absent Governor Bob Riley. Pastor Gayle Baughman of Wilmer
United Methodist Church blessed the vehicle along with its drivers, Kathryn Cariglino,
Sylvia Browder and Sherman Blosser, prior to its departure for Chatom, Alabama.
The Bizmobile traveled to Chatom to celebrate the WBC’s new services being
brought to Washington County. Mayor Pro Tem Cleophos Stephens welcomed the vehicle
and visitors. He also presented the WBC with a proclamation from the Town of
Chatom.
Following light refreshments, the Bizmobile caravan drove to Jackson City Hall
in Clarke County. Guests ate lunch catered by Doshia’s Inc., a local women-owned
business. Mayor Richard Long welcomed the Bizmobile and the WBC to Jackson.
The day ended at 3:30 p.m. with a celebration at the Escambia County Industrial
Development Authority in Atmore, Alabama. Mayor Howard Shell presented the WBC
with a proclamation from the City of Atmore recognizing the day.
The vehicle was wrapped by The Sign Studio located in Mobile, AL. Other cars
in the caravan sported magnetic signs with the same Bizmobile logo as the vehicle.
The magnetic signs were donated to WBC by The Sign Studio.
The WBC has been providing small business support services to women and men in
Mobile and Baldwin counties since 1993. Services include counseling, training,
